Yorkshire Day at Azendi

Azendi was established in Yorkshire in 1989, with four stores across the county in Leeds, York, Harrogate and Beverley. We have always felt a connection to our Yorkshire roots and are proud to have created our exclusive 'Heart of Yorkshire' collection to celebrate the heritage of God's Own Country. 

This Yorkshire Day, we are excited to let you know about the new additions to our Heart of Yorkshire collection, but first why not read a little about the story behind our iconic design.

A ROMANTIC LEGEND

Towering over the city of York, the central motif of the stunning Great West Window is an intricate heart design, carved by master masons seven hundred years ago.

Over the centuries a romantic tradition has grown in the city that a couple who share a kiss under the West Window will enjoy lifelong love. 

THE JEWELLERY

In 2016 we opened a new store in York, on the historic street of Low Petergate in the shadow of the cathedral. We became intrigued by the captivating window and the legend, and resolved to create a jewellery collection that reflected this local heritage. 

The collection aims to recreate the iconic heart design in a choice of sterling silver or 9ct gold. You can view the collection online here.

The design has an obvious connotation as a romantic motif, or as a memento of a visit to York, but what we initially did not anticipate is that the design would touch a nerve as a patriotic symbol for Yorkshire. The heraldic white rose is commonly known as the symbol of the county but customers have relayed to us their love of the Heart of Yorkshire as a symbol of their pride in their heritage.  We now regularly receive orders from the great Yorkshire diaspora, so we are sending the Heart of Yorkshire out to all over the United Kingdom as well as Australia, Canada and the United States.

NEW PIECES FOR 2021

This Yorkshire Day (1st August) we are excited to announce some new additions to the collection; silver and gold pendants featuring brilliant white diamonds and a precious 18ct gold necklace.

These pendants in sterling silver & rose vermeil feature the addition of a sparkling 0.02ct diamond set into the smaller dangling heart charms.

This new addition to the gold pieces in the Heart of Yorkshire collection features a 0.03ct diamond set into the intricate heart design. The 9ct gold pendant comes complete on a flexible 9ct snake chain.
