Why Choose Silver Jewellery

Between different carats of gold silver and base metals, the online customer has a wide range of materials to choose from. While design is the greatest attraction, the lure of a precious metal offers inherent value and substance that more transient types of jewellery cannot emulate.

Sterling silver jewellery set featuring an intricate double heart pendant with a smooth heart overlay and matching earrings, showcasing sculptural Yorkshire-inspired design.

Silver - the versatile precious metal

  • Silver has texture and luminosity yet works with any colour of clothing
  • Azendi silver is protected from tarnish by a rhodium or platinum plating
  • Silver has been increasing in value faster than gold
  • Azendi sterling silver is nickel free and hypoallergenic
  • Azendi jewellery is made with cast sterling silver for strength and durability

Mixed vermeil pendant and stud earrings featuring intertwined circular loops in rose, yellow, and white gold tones with a delicate diamond-set bale on the pendant.

Vermeil - a precious coating of gold on a sterling silver design

  • With gold prices at all time highs, many are finding that solid gold is now only possible for big lifetime purchases such as a wedding ring.
  • Silver is more affordable while remaining precious
  • Our Vermeil is sterling silver that has been given a durable electro-plating of 18ct gold.
  • We never use the fleeting flash plating that is cheaper and easily rubbed off.
  • We also use rose gold vermeil which has a redder colour.

How to ensure you are buying real sterling silver

  • For heavier pieces the law states that items over 7.75g must be tested and hallmarked. All such pieces are assayed for us at the Edinburgh Assay Office
  • Most pieces are lighter than 7.7g and for those items a 925 stamp is sufficient.
  • Lighter pieces must still conform to the 92.5% silver standard
  • Look for the words 'Sterling Silver'. When retailers just say 'silver' they often claim that they are talking about the colour rather than the metal.
  • In the UK it is illegal to call jewellery silver unless it is 92.5% sterling silver. Saying that the colour is silver may be an attempt to get around this law.
  • Silver is expensive in 2026. If you see a retailer offering heavy pieces at low prices, be especially careful to look for a declaration of material beyond the product title.
  • Look carefully at the dimensions of each piece. A photograph can make a miniscule piece look larger than real life.
