Aqua Chalcedony is a cool blue-green translucent gemstone. Although chalcedony is found in a huge array of colours including brown, green, grey, orange, red and white, the Aqua Chalcedony is famed for its soft colour, reminiscent of tropical turquoise waters. Aqua Chalcedony can vary from a soft powder blue through to a pale turquoise. The colour tends to be more intense in larger gemstones.
Chalcedony derives its name from the region of Kalkedon in the ancient Roman empire. Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations particularly prized Chalcedony, using the gemstone for carved seals, cameo brooches and signet rings.
Aqua Chalcedony is a traditional birthstone for March. Our sterling silver March birthstone pendant displays the gemstone in a simple polished surround. Matching chalcedony stud earrings are also available to complete the set, or to wear separately as classic everyday earrings.
