Introducing the New, Limited Edition, 'Heart of Yorkshire' Pendant in 9ct Gold

To usher in the new decade we have created a Limited Edition of just twenty-four solid gold necklaces. This is our most significant piece ever made for our much-loved exclusive 'Heart of Yorkshire' collection. We have taken the original signature silver heart pendant and recreated it, in the same size, in 9 carat gold. 

Only twenty-four pendants will be available in 2020; twelve in 9 carat white gold and twelve in 9 carat yellow gold. Each Limited Edition pendant has been individually assayed and hallmarked as 9 carat gold, and completed with an official Assay Office date mark, indicating the year 2020. This date mark is an extra stamp, in addition to the standard hallmark, evidencing that your pendant is from the very first release of this exclusive Limited Edition.

The Limited Edition pendant is 3cm in diameter, and finished to a high polish. Beautifully displaying the romantic heart design, the pendant is suspended from a smooth and flexible gold snake chain. We have chosen a supple snake chain for the pendant as the fluid chain feels like silk when worn, yet provides reassuring strength to support such a special pendant.  Presented in a luxurious gift box, the Limited Edition pendant is completed with an individual, numbered, certificate of authenticity.

History of the Heart

Constructed nearly seven hundred years ago, the Great West Window of York Minster is a triumph of Medieval stained glass and stonework tracery. We don't know what the fourteenth century artists had in mind when they designed the heart shaped centrepiece of the grand window, but we can talk about the modern day legend for romance that has captured the imagination. 

A local tradition asserts that a couple who kiss under the Heart of Yorkshire will stay together forever. This legend has gained increasing popularity, with many couples travelling to York to participate in the tradition. Subsequently, standing in the shadows of the Heart of Yorkshire window has become a number one location for grand proposals!

Having opened our York store, just around the corner from the west wing of the Minster, we became intrigued by the window and the legend, and resolved to create a jewellery collection that would allow visitors to partake of a really unique and delightful memory of their visit to the beautiful city.
