Pearl

There is no better piece of jewellery that represents timeless elegance as much a pearl. Our beautiful pearl collections combine sophistication with a few modern twists that can be worn on special occasions or given as a fabulous keepsake. Pearls reflect the light to give the wearer a glorious glow and are as natural as jewellery gets. Once formed, their shape and colour cannot be changed. This makes each and every pearl truly unique. Pearls are actually created from bits of coral or other tiny, living organisms that attach themselves to the body of the mollusc. In an attempt to rid itself of the foreign body, the mollusc covers it in nacre which is the smooth, luminous substance that makes the pearl so beautiful. Oysters produce only one pearl, but mussels can produce as many as 60, in various shapes and colours. 99% of classic freshwater pearls come from China, however different coloured pearls come from different parts of the world. The Philippines produce unusual gold pearls and Tahiti is known for its stunning black pearls. Pearl is the June birth stone and the traditional marker of a 30th wedding anniversary.
